Call for Tutorials

The organizing committee of IEEE SSCI 2022 invites proposals for tutorials from computational intelligence experts to be presented as part of the conference programme. The goal of a tutorial is to bring together audiences with different backgrounds including researchers, students, and practitioners who would like to improve their knowledge on the specific tutorial topics. Tutorials should focus on a specific theme and both theoretical and methodological aspects are welcome. Tutorials covering emerging and interdisciplinary topics in computational intelligence are particularly endorsed.

The topics of the tutorials will include but are not limited to:
  • Neural networks and learning systems
  • Evolutionary computation and swarm optimization
  • Fuzzy systems and related areas
  • Cross-disciplinary and emerging topics in and applications of computational intelligence

There is no specific format of the tutorials, but the tutorials should be well-organized and systematic. The organizers of the tutorials will need to prepare tutorial materials including presentation slides and handouts for distributions before and during the tutorial delivery. In addition, the tutorial organizers are encouraged to set up web pages to attract potential participants. The duration of the tutorials are normally 1.5 hours. We can also accept 3 hours duration or even a full day tutorial if extended time is justifiable. An average tutorial normally has around 25 to 30 participants.

Important Information for Proposals

The proposals should cover the following information:
  • A title and an abstract for web publicity.
  • An overview of the topic explaining its relevance and significance to the computational intelligence society.
  • A tutorial schedule with topic and time allocation. Please also outline the distributions of the presentations in the case of multiple presenters.
  • A short biography of each presenter.

The proposal will be evaluated based on the following criteria: `
  • Relevance
  • Timeliness
  • Technical content
  • Novelty
  • Expertise of the proposers

Tutorial proposals must be submitted via emails to the IEEE SSCI 2022 Keynote/Tutorial Chairs: Yaochu Jin (yaochu.jin@uni-bielefeld.de) and Mahardhika Pratama (Dhika.Pratama@unisa.edu.au) by 1st May 2022(Extended). Early submissions are welcomed. Notifications of decisions will be sent by 1st September 2022.
